I remember as a child, all the rooms in our house were wallpapered. When the time came to redecorate (that is, when mum told dad to redecorate) there was such a hullaballoo over getting the wallpaper off the walls and hanging the new wallpaper. But the best bit was picking the wallpaper for the walls to be redone. I loved going to the wallpaper shops and looking at all the rolls, and at the swatches of them. The colours and textures were delicious; some were thick and fuzzy, some were light and airy, but all were lush and could change the entire feel of a room. We spent weekends stripping the walls and cleaning off the glue, before placing the new rolls in the long buckets of water so the glue would moisten and help the paper stick to the walls.

Nowadays, it is simpler. You can put the glue on the wall first and hang the paper that way – and the paper can be moved around while it is still wet. No more agonising over how to correct crooked paper or the bubbles underneath it. But one thing for me stays the same – the glorious selection of patterns, colours and textures of the available papers takes me straight back to my childhood. Even though the choices of papers have changed (never again will we see the green fern paper we had in the kitchen of my youth) the ability of a well-picked wallpaper to alter a room completely remains.

One of my favourite collections of wallpaper is definitely Marcel Wanders. The best thing is that there are designs that compliment each other. You can have a gorgeous floral paper teamed with a plaid paper in the same colours. But you don’t have to paper another whole wall – you can ‘frame’ a square of the complimentary paper in an ornate frame and place it on a wall painted in a plain colour. Why not decoupage an item in matching (or complimentary) paper for a fresh look? Turn it into hobby to make extra money, or stick with furnishing your own home. Wallpaper can serve many functions. But for a relaxing trip back in time, my recommendation would be to head to your local wallpaper store.

If you want to decorate your house without having to paint, wallpaper is the best choice. It is easy and fast to put up on your walls. You can choose different designs for different rooms, so you get a unique feel every time you enter different parts of your home. The most common theme is floral patterns, although you can opt for plain wallpaper, cartoon wallpaper or the most recent: eco wallpaper.

Wallpaper has been around for many, many years. However, wallpaper has gained popularity recently as there are so many types of wallpapers available, and there are many distributors of wallpapers as well. When you visit any interior design company or home décor shop, wallpaper is on their list. Some wallpaper might be cheaper than paint, so you might want to consider purchasing wallpaper to replace paint as the covering for your home’s walls.

Another alternative is to mix wallpaper with paint to create an even better combination. However, you need to coordinate the wallpaper design with the paint colour to make sure the combination is perfect. To ensure that you are not messing around with your home’s design, you can get an expert to advise you on how you can mix wallpaper with paint to get the best effect. Without proper matching for both materials, you might end up spoiling the effect.

Eco wallpaper is actually made using material from sustainable forests. Some eco wallpaper is made from recycled paper. It is also common for most wallpaper companies to minimise the packaging, so they can do away with the tape and plastic, which is not necessary at all. More people are opting for eco wallpaper to help save the environment. By purchasing eco wallpaper, we get to reduce the amount of plastic garbage, which is good news as plastic is not biodegradable.

We have wallpaper that boasts different textures. It means you can feel the patterns with your hands. Also, we have traditional wallpaper that is hand painted. The design for traditional wallpaper usually takes forms from nature, such as floral patterns. You might want to browse the artistic prints as well. You can have a Porsche, beach scenery or a sexy lady as the backdrop for your room. This is a modern type of wallpaper design, and can make a statement in any room.

It is no longer about floral patterns when it comes to wallpaper design. However, if you want to have a traditional feel, floral patterns are always the best choice. Besides, floral patterns are also the trademark of English style. You might want to have floral prints culinary sets to match your wallpaper.

If you are interested in purchasing great quality wall paper, you should check the collections by Linda Barker and Marcel Wanders. Both are great interior designers with a taste of luxury. Linda Barker offers a range of unique wall decorations while Marcel Wanders has a range of wallpapers that guarantee to enhance your interior within an affordable price.
